Sengoku Musou (Dynasty Warriors-ish game set in 16th centruary Japan) W00T!

I dont think it's dull either. The 2player musou was kinda annoying, but that just made you either play better alone, or stick with each other. Either way, i liked it.

And i like DW. I dont see why i'd have to pick one over the other...

SW is a cool game. Been playing it lots recently. I actually haven't tried any DW, but I've ordered DW4. Oh and DarkPriest, you are the fastest unlocker EVAR. I've played frequently for a week and I don't even have all endings. Much less any rare items or lvl 5 weapons.

I had the import for a good while so I had a bit of extra knowlage to begin with once the game hit the states finally. Plus I was almost playing it non stop. :P

They revealed that Hideyoshi Hashiba/Toyotomi, and yoshimoto Imagawa are the first two new playable charatcers for the expansion.

There's small text that reads the other two that haven't been revealed are Tadakatsu Honda and his daughter Inehime.

So we're getting a new guy and a new chick.

So Kennyo Honganji, Ieyasu Tokugawa, and Nagamasa Azai are still unplyable.

I was expecting it.
The new characters will surely be the ones wick got a different model in Samurai Warriors or the ones who introduce you to the final trials in Officer Creation Mode(Tokugawa, Imagawa, Toyotomi, Azai and so on..)

I want Miyamoto Musashi.

I bought the game a week ago, and I'm enjoying it a lot!
I still need to unlock Okuni and Ishikawa Goemon, half of the endings and objects and Lv5 weapons O_O
there's plenty of things to do, this game will keep me busy until september, when Crimson Sea 2 and DW4-Empires will be released in Europe ^^

I was personally hoping for atleast Nagamasa Azai. But oh well we're still getting more people to play as so I can't complain. This IS a first for an XL expansion set afterall cause for Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4 alot of people were hoping for additional characters and we never got any for the XL expansions to those games.

True, true. I was also hoping for Azai. Speaking of him, I got Oichi's movie ending today. It was sweet, makes you feel bad knowing what actually happened...

Personally I can't wait to see how the (hopefully coming) sequels to SW will look, since I am much more fascinated with japanese story than chinese. If they fix the few flaws and add a bigger cast I am certain this will surpass the excellence of DW eventually.

Well I remember Dynasty Warriors started with a cast of around 20 and by the time of DW3 it was just over 40 so I'd assume SW2 will have at the very least 14 new additions to the roster. That's jsut an estimate though.

I agree. DW3 and DW3:XL were orgasmically good. I felt DW4 was one step forward but two steps back. I hoped SW would return to a DW3 level of greatness but it felt like more of the same. I have heard great things about DW4 Empires, though. Does anybody have the import?

They're both good for different reasons but I like DW4 cause it's newer, has added characters, BETTER weapon system, more polished graphics, more balanced gameplay, and the Kingdom drivin Musou mode is much better than the single character Musou mode in DW3.

DW3 and DW3XL I found unreasonably difficult to get everything in. Me and a friend are STILL working on getting the last 8 of the 5th weapons in DW3XL. It's fucking madness......

Fighters? What fighting games has Koei made besides the original Sangoku Musou (DW1)? Their flagship series is the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games anyhow, which I believe to be in the tenth installment.

DW4's game engine is definitely more polished and the graphics are a lot cleaner. The horse system is definitely improved, and the other stuff like new characters and costumes is cool. But...

1.) I hate the weapon system. I really liked being able to pick up level 1-3 weapons with randomly generated stats. Sometimes you would get some really tight shit, like +50 arrow defense with +25 musou charge. In some cases, I hard a third weapon for a character that was actually BETTER than his 4th weapon. I had an awesome 3rd weapon for Ma Chao, who probably has the worst 4th weapon in the game. I think the "weapon experience" system in DW4 is total bullshit. When I am in a heated battle with an officer I don't want to worry about getting in as many charged attacks as possible. I want to be able to concentrate on killing him, crush his army's morale, and grab his power up.

2.) Great increase in enemy soldiers' life but decrease in their attack power. The first thing I noticed when I played DW4 was that I wasn't racking up the kills nearly as quickly as in DW3. In DW3 the battles are fast and furious. You are a warrior worth a thousand, but not invincible. Enemies will quickly cut you down if you are careless. And archers will rape you no matter what. In DW4, common soldiers have a lot more HP but generally less attack power. This makes the battles in DW4 much more drawn out, less intense, and IMO more boring. You should not have to spend more than a few seconds taking out foot soldiers. But in DW4 you will knock down foot soldiers 3 or 4 times before you kill them. Not cool.

3.) Hit and miss stage designs. I loved the original maps in DW3. Siege of He Fei Castle on Hard or Expert = most intense DW gameplay ever. Many people felt they were too big and required too much backtracking and running around, so the maps in DW4 are generally more compact. Somehow though, the maps seem to lack a certain quality that the maps in DW3 had. I don't know. I just felt playing on the Wu Zhang Plains or the Nanman Campaign didn't seem right.

That's all I can think of for now. A lot of this depends on personal preference. You should play both DW3 and DW4 thoroughly to see which one you like better.
