Marimite is the best show about Japanese catholic school girls in existence.

HANTAI! HANTAI! ZETTAI ZETTAI ZETTAI ZETTAI ZEEEETTAI! HAAAANTAAAAAI!

Yoshino.... ;_: My favourite Petite souer in the series. Even more than Yumi. =x

I love Marimite so much. *_* Pity nobody has the taste to buy rights to it.

10 out of the 13 eps of Marimite left me all teary-eyed and hugging a pillow during the ending. It's definitely not for everyone, and HerV is the last place I'd expect to find fans of the series, but I'm totally and irreversibly gay for Marimite. Last year's best anime for me.

btw Yumi and Yoshino are lovable like 1000 Igniz' but Sei owns the show

But Mai Hime is really good. <3 Natsuke <3

That one episode where she has to attract cars with her "Femininity" for her, Mai, and Mikoto to hitch a ride back home at the end had me launching ROFLcopters all over the eastern seaboard.

Also Onegai Teacher is far superior to Twins in every way except incest humor. And incest doujin. But the series is a very mediocre harem anime. It's not like I regret watching it, but it's pretty forgettable and in contrast with Teach it sucks.

Spoiler: eps 1-3 are set-up, 4-10 are filler, 11-12 the story, 13 Onegai series standard OOC fanservice epilogue

Honey and Clover is class. The production values on this show are great and it looks really sharp. It somehow manages a perfect balance between humor (subtle and gag) and drama. The writing (and ANBU's translation) in the show, at best, is thought provoking. It's a character driven feel-good romance, even when it hurts, which evokes memories of Here is Greenwood, Maison Ikkoku, or any of the lighter Rumiko Takahashi (or U-Jin :o) fare.

Morita is anime Jesus.

So is anyone else watching Blood+? It's another spinoff of the movie that came out a while back (the one with the schoolgirl slicing up vampire monsters), but has a different storyline than both that and the manga.

Saya starts off amnesiac in this one, after we're shown her going all riot of the blood on some unfortunate oriental village a year prior. After a bit of her new, pacifist life, those vampire monsters show up again, and things really get going from there. The whole thing is sort of Escaflowne meets Tsukihime, and is just really well done overall.

If anyone's interested, you can find torrents at animesuki.com.

Patrick Zuek's, B.U.M.P.

Sooo Burst Angel seemed pretty cool the first couple of episodes, but I think I was at episode twelve where I found that I just couldn't keep all the hype I've seen circling this series blind me. I mean aside from the costumes the four main girls wear, everything just seems so bland. Monster designs seem to be kind of a throwback to, uh, whenever those large, spikey, unicolor, goo-spitting, um,. breast-having weird beings were... popular (?). But they seem boring to most of the other anime I've watched.

I want more Jo/Django and less chef boy and more blood and less not having any semblance of a story line. Plus I already have the first four volumes (fourth still plastic wrapped). I really wanted to finish the series without feeling like a total moron wasting my (parent's) cash.

I also have the first volume of Godannar. I saw the first episode, and this feeling that draws me to large robots and large breasts and large robots with large, bouncing (??) breasts and pilots screaming their robot's attack name prior to administering it just took over me... and... someone please tell me it's half decent. Or that the whole over-the-top-ness makes up for it's weaker aspects. 'Cause just. thx

However, season 2 holds the possibility of them visting the world of yet another alternate universe Tomoyo, this one closer in personality to the greatest female character to ever grace Japanese animation.

The last couple of subbed episodes of Basilisk are now being torrented (http://www.mininova.org/search/basilisk/added). I finished the series this afternoon - a very obvious but still very well done ending.

And I finally see what the fuss about Kagero is all about. When we first see her she's little more than an Akeginu palette-swap, but come the final encounters she really shines. And the part where she was being tortured by Tenzen was really grim and ended up giving her an even more deranged appeal.

Speaking of which, Tenzen also ended up totally awesome. Obviously his ninja art was going to have be pretty rad to rival Gennosuke's, and I think they pulled it off very well.

I don't think this has been posted anywhere else yet:
http://www.funimationfilms.com/

"FUNimation Films will be going nationwide in March at select theaters starting with a double feature of Dragon Ball Z Fusion Reborn and Dragon Ball Z The Return of Cooler. Following that, fans will get the opportunity to catch a sneak peek of the upcoming series Basilisk in April. Our first three months on the big screen will also feature Trinity Blood in May."

Select theaters, sure, but it's still pretty cool. I happened to be lucky enough to have theaters that carried the Cowboy Bebop movie and Steamboy, so I hope I'll get to see hot Goku on Vegeta fusing action on the big screen.

It's finally happened.
Media Blasters will be releasing the first of three sets of the English dubbed Teknoman on May 30. Each set will be 14-15 episodes and will be "budget priced" at $59.95 (an average of $4.28 per episode).

Teknoman will be the Saban dubbed and edited TV broadcast version of the 1990s. A total of 43 English episodes exist and will be released by Media Blasters.

Due to the editing of the English language version, it wasn't possible for Media Blasters to release a subbed and dubbed version with the same video, so they will be releasing an uncut, sub only Tekkaman Blade later in 2006.

The Tekkaman Blade release will will be a special edition release with remastered video and all the extras from the Japanese LD and DVD sets.

There are 49 Japanese episodes, all of which will be released by Media Blasters.

Lately Media Blasters has been focusing on older titles as well as newer anime. Tekkaman Blade will join the likes of Giant Robo, Master of Mosquiton, Iczer and Saber Marionette R, all of which have recently been released by Media Blasters. Regarding Tekkaman Blade, John Sirabella, CEO of Media Blastersters, stated "Tekkaman Blade is one of the best hand-drawn high-budget robot animes to come out of Tatsunoko Pro studios (famed for Gatchaman, Speed Racer) and its release is long overdue."

Currently release details, date, and pricing for Tekkaman Blade are not yet available.
Bless you, Media Blasters.

I think 6 volumes are out. Even though XXXHolic is far superior to Tsubasa Chronicles, the recycling of characters makes Tsubasa more marketable. ie. Unless XXXHolic had the Tsubasa crossovers the general public wouldn't give it a chance.

http://www.wowow.co.jp/anime/guyver/character/images/img_chara_01.jpg

I don't get why Japanese games/animes have such pansies as main characters??? (Eg Tidus from Final Fantasy X)
He was a character basically to have no outrageous traits, just so the reader can feel for him, being a normal kid and all.

Also I've seen it all raw. And there's subs to episode 16 so far, yet I'm not waiting for these since they don't come out regularly. Hopefully someone will start scanlating the manga more often too.

Also there's a Guyver thread that's been lost in the pages a bit.

I guess so. I'm a little older to relate to him now. Besides that, it hard for teens to relate to a boy whose been transformed into a bio-boosted weapon that fights a secret military style corporation that uses monster transformation, as opposed to a gun... :^_^:

On the subject of pansies, I just made a realisation. Check out the transition of main characters from Final Fantasy 7 onwards, if the links works. They slowly go from cool macho men (a real man has a Buster Sword or Gunblade), changing slowly into pansies before becoming semi-sexy women!

How good is Higurashi?

Higurashi is pretty good despite the art style.

Up until episode 7 of Utaremono and Ouran High School, Ouran was going to be my favorite anime of this year. Unfortunately, the last two episodes of Ouran haven't had me rofl while Utaremono has been consistently good with the exception of how underwhelming the evil rulers have been.

OK I take that back.

What I meant to say was that Final Fantasy VII and VIII had less girly characters with really cool swords. Shortly after that they decided to use a cat boy then a pansy, followed by a game where you dressed up your female characters, then multiplayer, then another weedier pansy followed by a chick!

its pretty much a girly romance parody by Bones

Why does The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya feel the need to order its episodes anachronically, since it doesn't actually appear to serve a purpose other than to be annoying. This was especially irritating in the case of episode 7, because it interrupted a two-parter for absolutely no good reason whatsoever.

I really don't want to come across as "that guy", but so far (episode 8) I've been rather unimpressed by what is generally considered to be the hit sensation anime of 2006. I enjoyed episode one a lot: It was a perfect parody of shitty student films and magical girl anime, but everything after it has left me completely cold. The show is pretty well animated and I can always appreciate a lack of use of chibi's and wacky anime facial expressions, but I have yet to see anything particularly funny outside of the first episode, and although the main concept is interesting, the story isn't really that good. I can only take so many scenes of Kyon acting exasperated when Haruhi does something brash, or Haruhi physically abusing Mikuru for the sake of fanservice, or Yuki being Rei. The main cast is otherwise likeable enough (I actually love Haruhi herself) but Mikuru is just about the worst character ever created. And don't even dare telling me her character is supposed to be an ironic commentary on the use of large-breasted "moe" characters in anime to appeal to perverts.

Also? The ending to episode eight was retarded.

I'm not saying the show is bad, because it's really not. I'm just saying that I don't think it's amazing in any way.

I like Haruhi's episode order. It hints at important plot points and character development without giving them away too early.

But when is the revelation of important plot points and character development "too early"? As far as I can see they could have just shown the episodes in their proper order and nothing would have been lost or spoiled.

And they're going to be in the right order on the DVDs, the way you're meant to watch the episodes. If what you're saying was really their intention then they'd order them by their release dates.

It also means the final few episodes are the big budget action ones instead of episode 9.

Then why not just save their money for the final few episodes instead of producing those first and then broadcasting them before all the others?

The chapters aren't really in disorder, it's like groudhog day, where each arc(4 episodes) is a different version of events. Also, as of a few hours ago, episode 10 was released, but I was at the theater(saw The Proposition, really good movie) so I haven't seen it yet.

Is anybody still watching Ergo Proxy? I stopped at Episode 2. Are the eps revealing more/getting better?

(Quoting with delay)

Have you quit watching that series? To me is the best anime I've seen in a loooong time. And while it borrows too many things from classic sci-fi movies like The Matrix and Blade Runner, I think that the plot is engaging, well done, with interesting characters (saving that annoying little robot called Pino) and a fucking well done character design and animation.

I finished chapter 7 and I have nothing to complain. I should be watching 8 and 9 today and tomorrow will reach 11, the last fansubbed chapter.

It's a refreshing show among all the repetitive things I've seen lately.

As for the plot, Vincent is gaining more interest and is stopping to be pathetic little by little. But they still haven't answered properly his links to the Proxy (although is hinted that he is one of them, I think).

The action continues outside Romdeau and shows Vincent's search for answers to his past.

I wish to know why you did stop so see it, and I recommend you to try it again if you are willing to give it another chance.

with is the whole "new character omg" who's atleast 5 levels above the standard party, and she pretty much replaces all the warriors. atleast when the winged chicks showed up that's ok since they're the only mages.

Haruhi 11 was released today. Here's my thoughts for the episode: One of the best yet. It seemed kinda predictable that the computer club was going to cheat, but I still liked the overall feel and style the episode had to it. The ship scenes were really well animated, I especially liked how Mikuru's crew was a bunch of cute little cat things. I'd personally say it was better than episode 10. The next one has Tsuruya, so nothing can go wrong there :)
