Reason you hadn't heard of Texhnolyze until now is that it was licensed some 3-4 episodes after it started its broadcast run in Japan. And the one group that kept subbing it did so at a slow pace; they had yet to finish it last time I checked.

Anyway, it's about a city called Lukuss, situated below the earth. The main character, Ichise, is a prize-fighter who donkey-punches his boss while having sex with her. She hires the Organa crime organization to punish him and he loses a leg and an arm.
This works much better.

Now.
Since I'm lazy, I'll just direct you to a plot summary. (http://anidb.ath.cx/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=1539) But let me tell you, it's great to see a realistic anime like this, with things you can actually believe happening in real life. In a way, it's really quite a refreshing change from the usual slew of new anime. If it strikes your fancy, the whole manga has been scanlated. (http://www.mangascreener.com/project.php?id=5)
And you can thank Rarufu. I wouldn't have known of any of this without him.

I was just wandering the local HMV the other day, when I came across Wizards on DVD, which surpised me. Definately my favourite Bakshi film.

Funny thing is, I think that Excel doesn't translate well into the manga; the reverse of what I feel about Azumanga Daioh.

It's from Raimuiro Senkitan (I might have the second bit wrong, people tend to just call it "Raimuiro"). From what I can gather, it's pretty much an anime based on a low-rent H-game knockoff of Sakura Taisen. Enough people have stood by its hilarity for me to want to see it for myself, whatever that's worth.

R.O.D The TV is excellent. It's like the original ROD mixed with Azumanga Daioh. So you have a mostly female cast and a more light-hearted story (so far). The Paper Sisters are a lot of fun and they seem to exceed (the missing!) Yomiko Readman's Paper Master Skills. It's a little easier to follow than the OAVs, and this series will picking up on the plot from the OAVs later on, I think.
But the action of the OAVs is there, and the dub is great, too. They actually got a 12-year-old girl to do the voice of the 12-year-old Paper Sister, Anita. All four girls are well cast, really, tho my favorite is probably Nenene's voice.

I suppose I should warn you, TODE, that all the light-heartedness leaves the series a little later in and is replaced by constant treachery, infighting, and horrific emotional abuse. So don't get too comfortable. :S

Little bits of licensing news:
Ending months of speculation, AN Entertainment has officially announced that they have acquired Jungle wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu. (geez that took like 3 years!)
FUNimation productions announced at their panel just now that they have acquired the license to Burst Angel, or Bakuretsu Tenshi (Bakuten for short).
FUNimation Productions has just announced at their AX panel that they have acquired the license for Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OAV 3.
Judging by how they've handled TM GXP thus far, looks like OAV3 is in good hands.

T-N and WPP are subbing the original Mazinger Z. I already have the first 44 episodes on HK boot, so I'll miss not having such great lines as "the spaceship at the food of Devil Z" and "Oh good! I stroke it." Not to mention the frequent and random name changes.
Quite a big undertaking for them though. It's 90-ish episodes, many of them rehashes. I smell another Hero Legends or AiA scenario.

So I read the first chapter of MAZINGER ANGELS.
It's about Sayaka (Z), Jun (Great). and Hikaru (Dizer) fighting crime as a Charlie's Angels-style team, but with giant female robots. Very tongue-in-cheek, and Sayaka panty shots a-plenty.
Currently sharing it in the hub, or PM me if you want me to send it to you directly.

I recommend people who loved (and hated) NAJICA BLITZ TACTICS check out the manga adaptation that has recently started appearing, courtesy of ADV MANGA.
It's really quite good. The first thing you notice is Najica's ... redesign. Her anime incarnation was shapely enough, but now she's built like a less-muscular Tina Armstrong. There's even more dressing up (and down) than there is in the animated version and not a page goes by without a deep cleavage shot, or well-defined ass, rendered in loving detail. I love it!
But tits aren't the only thing it has going for it - as of volume 1, it's a lot less episodic and straightforward than the series. Other things, as well as "ZOMG IT'S A HUMARITT!" happen - and while it is all still just hi-tech spy stuff, the extra variety in missions, characters and actions is really quite welcome.
It's also a bit grittier, too. There are none of those silly rubber bullets, and more people die, and get maimed and tortured. It's not especially horrific, but it does have a bit more of an edge.
The story has already taken some radically different paths than the anime. Najica's rescue of Lila is told in flashback, halfway through volume one. Lila gets kidnapped to be sold into slavery, and later on she participates in an underground fight club, with (predictably) amusing results.
I'm definitely looking forward to vol 2, come (lol) October.

Azumanga Daioh Vol.4 has come out. What's significant about it is that episode #19, the last one the disc, is a completely original story that fleshes out two of the characters in a more "serious" story. If you can be serious in an episode involving "yawn masters". But basically the story concerns Nyamo and Kagura and their vocations in life, at the time of the year when the cherry blossoms are blooming. Normally one would sound the "filler" alarm, but it is actually a very and pleasant story that doesn't seem too out of the ordinary.
That's a way to sell a video, call it pleasant!

To be honest, Maburaho is shit. It starts really well, plot is going well, and then it fucking expires slowly and painfully like a cancerous old man in a nursing home. Who then gets run over by a steamroller in the street. It's really about that painful. If you like the charactor designs, get the artbook or something :P
Kimi Ga Nozumu Eien is actually damn good. The story is amazing, the charactors start feeling extremely real, and every episode ends on a cliffhanger so you're always wanting more. Oh, did I mention the occasional sex scenes? It's based on a hentai game after all.

For some reason, AD filler is the nicest kind of filler. I don't know if it's just because I'm not spastically attached to the stories/characters to a possesive/anal degree, but from what I've seen so far it's definitely a cut above the usual stuff.
It's like, whoever makes it, "gets" the series, and is able to create things that fit in with the original stuff. Whereas you look at something like Dragonball, and it's quite clear that whoever came up with literally 99% of the anime-only material did not have a clue about DB, what made it and its characters good, funny, likeable or entertaining.

So, has anyone else been following the new Cutie Honey series (Re:Cutie Honey)? Fansubs of the second episode (it's a 3-4 episode OVA series) have just been released, and so far this show just keeps getting better and better.
The best way I can describe the show, as someone who's never seen the other CH series, is that it's like a sentai fusion of "FLCL" (which is appropriate, considering Re:CH is also a Gainax production) and "Viewtiful Joe". The art and music are great, there's plenty of fanservice, and the characters are simply awesome. The two main non-Honey characters are Seiji, the slick, mysterious guy who for some reason knows more about Honey than even she does, and Inspector Natsuko, a tough-as-nails policewoman. I can't say enough about how badass she is... in her first appearance, she has a showdown with a huge tank monster and takes out a volley of missiles with just her handgun. She also ends up bailing Honey out of trouble several times, the best example of this being the "Utena" moment the two share in episode 2. I'll give you a hint: Honey gets infected with something, and the only cure is skin-to-skin contact. :D
I'm just so ridiculously excited about this show. WATCH IT, BITCHES (http://www.animesuki.com)

I saw this yesterday. It's really sad! I love the flashes of seriousness that the original would touch on from time to time, and this was like an expanded version of that. The sense of something intangible just starting to slip away, of how small and insignificant everything was and how the future was so vast and unknowable - was quite moving. I really love this series. I'm such a fag!

The original GB does have a special place in my heart but I also recognize GB 2 for it's merits.I don't really see it as "bastardizing" the original,GB 2 has the same basic premise that the original did,a girl "aiming for the top" to become a space pilot.
I really doubt that GB 2 will be better than the original but i'll watch it with the mindset that it's a new story that has nothing to do with the original.

I can see where they're coming from. When I read your post up there, about episode 19, my initial reaction was :rollseyes - another series feeling the random need to be 'deep' where deepness is not needed. Fortunately I felt it didn't take it as far as it could have done, and there was still plenty of silliness to prevent it slipping into truly serious grounds.
I don't really blame them for wanting to do it, either. You've got all these extra things at your disposal when you're making an animation - music, voices, motion - I can see how just doing a 'straight' port of a bunch of four-panel comics must have seemed like an unchallenging route - the easy way out.
Looking forward to vol. 5. :D :D

Anyone else remember when we first saw the magazine ad for Gundam Seed Destiny? And we all thought it was going to suck? You're all probably still right, but the first episode didn't want to make me pop my eyes out with a spork. Couple of things:
1. Why did they reuse things from the first season? Like the display for the ending sequence and the plot from the first season's first episode? Granted, the ending sequence is pretty cool but I was hoping for a little originality.
2. Why is Lacus' dress now a leotard and glued on skirt thing halfway down her thighs?
3. Anyone else get some Getter Robo flashbacks when they saw Impulse for the first time?
Whatever, I'll keep watching it because I'm a loser like that, and I was amused by the massive sword staff thing that Impulse started swinging around.

EDIT: Lilith <3<3<3<3 :spooge: (no, furix... I'm not talking about Lilith from Darkstalkers ;) ).
Yamibou - Utils did a couple of screen shots, and I think the CG from the game is floating around somewhere. Essentially, it's the main charactor, Hazuki, chasing her (adopted) sister around because she wants to confess her undying love (in kinky semi-incestuous ways). There's Lilith, who follows Hazuki around because she wants to get into her pants. And then there are a variety of other hot women running around who Hazuki runs into in her journey across multiple universes. The plot's rather loose, since it's based on a h-game and there's a new plot that shows up everytime Hazuki enters another dimension. I don't know if it's a must see, but it's a fun little softcore lesbian diversion if you've been watching heavier stuff.
Never seen Kono Mimi.
Samurai 7 - Supposedly this is based on "The Seven Samurai," ye olde famous samurai movie. It's kinda hard to tell though, with all the mecha and magic, and wacky charactors running around. I stopped watching this at episode 5, it wasn't holding my interest compared to Samurai Champloo. If you liked "The Seven Samurai," you'll probably like this series a lot more because you can try to identify common plot points or charactors or something. Also, distinct lack of women.

I think the anime came out first. And while it was no artistic masterpiece .. this looks like, well, like I drew it.
Actually the manga came out first and isn't even finished yet. I guess that's why the anime ending was a bit WTF. And I'm guessing that scan is from the very first issue (probably the scene before they meet Maki) so the art might've improved. Hopefully someone uploads parts that include berserking Sakiyama Kaori and Maki kicking people in the face, something by which the manga can truly be judged.

Yeah, manga's always like that though. The first few chapters always look completely different.
I had a look at some newer Airmaster while I was in Japan, and the art is pretty consistent with the anime. ie. still REALLY stylised, but much better composition, form etc...
I personally like the newer airmaster art - it really is quite insane.
Other thing is that it's published in Young Animal(?) I think... so the artist probably doesn't get as much artistic support as they would get if they were getting published in Shonen Jump...
then again... some of HunterXHunter has the laziest artwork I've ever seen... and that's Shonen Jump...

You've got Ishida Akira (Athrun), Shindou Naomi (cagalli), Sakamoto Maaya (Escaflowne's Hitomi, RahXehpon's Mishima Reika), Kuwashima Houko (Azumanga's Kagura), Toshihiko Seki (Duo Maxwell, Legato), Ikeda Shuuichi (CHAAAAAAAR!), and Koyama Mami (Kycilia Zabi, Millennium Actress).

I have the whole series recorded from TV on VHS, but the tapes are at least 4 years old so the video and sound quality are a bit dodgy. I was thinking about picking it up if the extras were good enough.
EDIT> Reread Neil's spiel on it and I'm almost convinced. I'll see what happens.

The biggest extra is probably the expanded episodes and more accurate dubbing (a line is changed here and there).
The quality is better than your TV tape to be sure, but it's also better than the previous NGE DVDs. It looks almost brand new, up to the level of more recent shows like Cowboy Bebop. The audio has been greatly improved, like there are additional vocals in the opening track.
So far, the only extras have been commentaries by people who worked on the American dub, a 12-page booklet in each volume, and extensive deluxe packaging. It comes in a standard DVD case, which has an outer slipcase with new artwork, and there is an artbox in which to put all seven volumes. At the SakuraCon anime convention, we were told by ADV's top guy that this was going to be only 6 volumes originally (that's their standard for 26-episode series now) but there is going to be so much extra stuff that a 7th volume was necessary. What this means exactly, I don't know. Hopefully more than just commentary tracks. A segment about the WETA workshop guys working on visuals for the live-action movie would be a nice touch.

So yeah, just got the full set of Cowboy Bebop the other week. That explains some of my sketches. Other stuff I'm watching on CD or on free TV include:
Slam Dunk- Miyagi and Mitsui appeared so I started watching this rerun again. Personally some thing I find weird (Gori and Haruko siblings wut, Lots of six-foot-tall junior high students o.o, etc.) Still a lot of fun and laughs, and I like the way it's drawn, and the basketball references (who is a tribute to who, the yaoi tension :smalltran). I also recently watched a similarly basketball-themed animé, Dear Boys. Although it lacks the OOMPH and the laughs of SD, IMO the games are more realistic, the characters more hetero, and the females are hawt (see jpg crap everywhere attachment)
One Piece- I'm interested in it a little more now than when it first aired. But I don't quite like the campiness and the drawing style.
Ragnarok- Pretty shallow and cliché for most part IMHO, and in parts it really does feel like you're just watching someone else play the darned MMORPG. But, Takius. :spooge:.

I just saw this one recently.... to use the Hollywood pitchline, it's GTO meets The Sopranos meets Kill Bill. What I like about it is that it's fairly realistic in terms of character design and story, but it still has humorous elements like the bad-ass gangster dog and the classic Japanese Punk High School students.
Gokusen = Gokudo Sensei = "Gangster Teacher" Kumiko, aspiring young HS teacher is actually the acting leader of a yakuza clan who's good in a fight. So she lives a double life but her gangster background can be hard to supress. So it reminds me of the Sopranos in that respect.

I got into this primarily because I love Range Murata's designs (he did the character and mechanical designs) immensely. And it was free on Tech TV...the first half of it, anyway. So, has anybody been watching Kannaduki no Miko? I'm up to episode 7. The robot fight scenes, which were considerably less than mediocre at episode one, just plain suck now. If you want to continue to watch Kannaduki for mechs, then it's probably better not to. They're bland, boring, and lack the exciting punch I hoped it would have. It's really just Oogami yelling at the top of his lungs, then to end it with his super ultra attack which comes out of his ass, instead of a battle. Even as a sidedish to the main story, they just don't fit or belong anywhere in the series. Oh, and...
I dread to watch the last few minutes of the episodes recently, because Chikane always gets owned at the end, and Oogami always ends up hogging the spotlight with his 2-3 minutes of robot grunting action. That, and how amazingly one-dimensional both Himeko and Oogami are is just irritating. I seriously, truly hope Chikane finds some happiness, or else Kaishaku is a total fucking ass hole.

I didn't think the animation was that bad, but everyone got their own opinion.
As for the movie, I thought it was pretty decent. I liked the action sequences a lot, but I'm a sucker for explosions, guns and the like. The art style is interesting, but there are probably some people who will be upset with the departure from Shirow's style. Plot didn't have anything new I believe, but I definitely wasn't getting a full understanding of the stuff people were saying. Definitely need to know more Japanese prior to trying to do translation for fansubs.
My one problem with the movie is that it tries really hard to be dramatic but never really succeeds. Any one who's seen a reasonable amount of television, anime, or movies will not be surprised by anything that happens.
Service - not much really. One scene with Deunan in bra and panties flipping around trying to escape. Another scene with Deunan doing hand to hand combat in a miniskirt. Various other bits of cleavage and Deunan's butt looks pretty nice in that formfitting combat suit. That's pretty much it.
For people who love the series, this is an interesting take on it. I don't know if it's better than the OVA from the late 80s, but it's definitely not the worst way to spend about 2 hours.

And so, the final Azumanga Daioh DVD is out. Everything you like about this series is best emphasized here, esp. its feeling of nostalgia since it's time for the girls to graduate. And everyone gets what's coming to them.
The only minor quibble I have is that there were only 3 episodes on this DVD, but it's only that way because ADV divided the DVDs by their high school years so every 2 DVDs is a different year. The DVD also includes a five-minute "mini-movie" that's done with different character designs that basically summarizes the first "season" of the show. I was hoping Azumanga WEB Daioh would be included but oh well.
I hope more anime dubbers look to this show to see how to dub a character from Osaka/Kansai properly, versus what we've seen happen in other anime like Love Hina (Kitsune) and Ukyo (Ranma 1/2).
Here's to hoping someone releases Azuma's other work in America.

Anyone else watching Genshiken? It's basicially an anime about otaku, kind of like how Comic Party was an anime about doujinshi artists. Unlike Comic Party, Genshiken is consistantly funny. The creators are even making episodes of the anime that the charactors of Genshiken watch, just to increase the immersion factor.
Kannaduki no Miko stuff within the spoiler tags, even though I think you guys should be watching it regardless - Chikane's been raping and pillaging her way through the cast. Rapes Himemiya (not that the crying bitch didn't deserve it). Takes down multiple Orochi mecha, beats the shit out of Oogami with long ass exploding arrow combos, kills off the rest of the Orochi necks, and even has time to play with Himemiya's emotions a bit before ripping out her heart and vowing to kill her. Definitely my favorite charactor in the series.

The TV series (and better yet the manga) is good stuff though. I liked comic party cause it speaks the truth about being passionate about your art. The morals work on many levels other than just making comics (for me amatuer game making naturally). Just curious though what is wrong with the OVA's?

I haven't watched the OVA but the TV show made me yawn. A lot.
It was educational and amusing for about 3-4 eps but after whatshisface's big failure (which was somewhat well executed, try sucking everyone's cock at the same time and the balls will touch) it didn't have anything. I particularly hated how it almost totally ignored the hero's descend into freakhood in the eyes of the 'normals', something which would've actually been interesting. Also most of the fellow artists didn't serve any purpouse what so ever and were just hanging there like the muted perv characters of DBZ dub.
Btw I got the HCG set the other week and I'm lead to believe the game sucks too or wtf is this one scene for each character and no moneyshots rubbish?

DR. SLUMP, Volume 1 • MSRP: $7.99 • Available May 2005
DR. SLUMP is a madcap series about a blustering inventor, who creates the “perfect” android girl, only to discover that he may have created a monster instead! Volume 1 introduces the precocious Arale to Penguin Village, where she wreaks havoc with her superhuman strength and oddball ways. Each volume of the series focuses on Arale's childlike misunderstandings of humanity and Senbei's inventions, rivalries and romantic misadventures. Aside from its episodic storyline, DR. SLUMP is also notable for its puns, scatological jokes and parodies of both Western and Japanese pop culture. A manga classic by Akira Toriyama, the creator of DRAGON BALL and DRAGON BALL Z.
DR. SLUMP was Toriyama’s first weekly manga series, debuting in Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump anthology. The series became a huge commercial success, spawning an incredible ten feature films, a pair of popular anime series that totaled over 300 episodes, and an array of related toys and video games. The title has never been available in English until now. Following the success of DR. SLUMP, Toriyama went on to international fame with manga series like DRAGON BALL, DRAGON BALL Z and SAND LAND (all published by VIZ under the SHONEN JUMP brand.)

Guilty Gear in Genshiken:
There's the sequence in the opening of Kosaka playing GG in an arcade setting.
What's her name cosplays as Jam, to the entertainment of many in episode 4.
Same episode, Kosaka wins a GG tournament.
Episode 7 - Kosaka beats the snot out of some guy, with some interesting commentary that does appear to display a reasonable level of knowledge of the game.

Now, I'm torn. I've been waiting, what, three years to see the Japanese versions of the first batch of episodes, and I'd still like to see them. But at the same time, as a lapsed DBZ fan I just don't think I have it in me to buy so many DVDs over such a time period any more.
I very much second your sentiment - double-disk box sets would make the wait, and the horrible filler episodes an awful lot more tolerable, and without them it's not really something I can see myself investing in extensively.

Its the same VA for Goku from Dragonball. The Japanese rarely change VAs unless it is absolutely necessary. VAs/Actors tend to be associated with characters, and changing them tends to create discord in the fan communities. All you have to do is go to a bunch of James Bond fans and ask them who the best Bond actor was.
And the high pitched HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA is far more palatable than the exagerated groan of the US version.

But that's the thing, he gets older, and er, bigger, but he never really grows up. His enormous naivety and pure-heartedness keeps him childlike throughout the entire series, and the voice adds to that.

R.O.D The TV Vol.4 is just great. The intensity of the previous volume is maintained and there's even a recap/fill-in-the-blanks episode that fills in holes in the series' history, connecting this series with the Read Or Die OVA series.
There's a major event this volume. And in case you're wondering, like every other one of these, returning character Yomiko Readman has a different voice than the one she had in the OVA. She has been given a British accent, possibly to reflect the fact that the character is half-British.

Contrary to what the title might imply, it's not a harem anime, but rather a fantasy series... picture a combination of Utena and Escaflowne, and you have a very rough idea of what this series is like. Nothing about it is particularly original, but it's still managed to keep my attention for the four episodes that have been fansubbed thus far, which is a lot more than I can say for many of the newer anime series. Well, all of them, actually (except the new Cutie Honey). :x
Mikoto is badass, even if she looks eerily like a Midnight Blissed Tenchi Masaki.
What I've found with My-HiME is that, even though on its face it's a pretty typical setup and a pretty typical action series, there're little details about it that're just different enough to make the whole package more interesting than it probably ought to be. So yeah, I'm lovin' it.

Haven't seen Parasite Dolls, but heard many good things about it. It's connected to the Bubblegum Crisis world too.
Mezzo's pretty fun (if absolutely ludicrous with its storylines; statue of limitations on murder!), but the animation turns to shit in episodes 3-5. It starts off acting like a political drama and by the eye-catch you're wondering what the hell is this series about. Then you get to the end and the little kid in you squeels with glee.
I think the series is worth seeing simply because the Commander, Sandman, chews the scenery and thoroughly enjoys being in the billionare/giant robot guy he is.

A warning to my fellow HerVerts: if anybody is interested in picking up the fresh new DVD release of Ghost in the Shell 2... don't. Some genius at Dreamworks decided that the english subtitles should double as the closed captioning, so unless you want to watch the film in Japanese without subs, you'll have to put up with a lot of [helicopter approaching], [faint footsteps], and my personal favorite, [singing in Japanese]. Extremely irritating, and occasionally ruins the mood. I'm very, very disappointed... I was looking forward to having this film in my collection, but I guess that won't be happening now. Thanks a bunch, Dreamworks.
Also, the box art is ass.

I've heard other complaints about the cover, but this is the first time I've seen anything said about the captioning.
To be honest, given the choice between owning the film (with occasionally annoying CCs) and not having it at all - I'll probably still pick it up at some point. I really can't see them releasing another edition any time soon, so this will probably be as good as it gets.
Thanks for the warning, anyway.

The guy who did the mockup for Innocence was upset with what Dreamworks did to his art. Here's the mockup, by the way:

That's still bad. They're presenting it as if it's a movie about Batou and his naked robot sidekick kicking everyone's ass using a big fucking gun, Schwarzenegger-style. Not that I'd mind it if it was just that, actually.

I agree about the box art, but the closed captioning is hardly an issue. Then again, being a non-native speaker, I'm more used to them. The Star Wars DVDs also had close captioning over here.
I know it varies from person to person, but I think it's a bit extreme that anyone would not buy the movie because of CCs. Like Neil said, I'd rather have that than nothing.

Personally, this is the first time I've ever run into them.
Being someone who isn't deaf, I just find the closed captioning distracting to the point where it takes away from the movie. I can hear the explosions, radio chatter, and so on, I don't need the subtitles to tell me they're there.
I might just buy a HK bootleg instead. :smalltran

But that's all it was though, really. Just with more pretentious dialogue and quoting of philosophers. :smalltran
About the image, the artist was comissioned to do that by Dreamworks, and when he presented them that image, they liked it, and that they would "take care of the rest". I'm just wondering why Dreamworks would even need to hire an artist, when they could have just simply used the promo poster they've been shilling around for the past year. At the very least, you can (hopefully) agree that the mockup looks a million times better than the end result.
I did manage to watch a friend's copy, and closed captioning issues notwithstanding ('[silence]' on a closed captioning track is absolute brilliance), the audio and video was of high quality, although I have heard complaints that the video had a bit more grain to it than the R2 DVDs.

Grenadier episode 10 was just released by Lunar, and it's a pretty exciting episode. I'm actually surprised how much I've started to enjoy this series, since it seemed like it only existed for fanservice at first. What with Ryuusuna and those terrible balloon breasts. Wait, I take that back. Even balloons would look less ridiculous than what Ryuusuna is packing. (As evidenced when Mikan had actual balloon breasts.)

BTW, guys, a little question:
I bought the vols. 2 and 3 of Ai Yori Aoshi (lol romantic faggotry), the Tokyopop edition. I liked the quality, but they're relatively expensive (12 USD) because they're imported :/
-Which other Tokyopop mangas are available, and which ones are recommendable?
-Ai Yori Aoshi will probably be released around here (if I can't get the vol.1 from Tokyopop, I'll get the mexican edition :O ), but the quality of the mangas published here is kinda inferior (price's lower, like 4USD per manga), the only exception till now is Clover (8 USD, deluxe edition... the only one available, lol). Should I wait for the mexican release, or Tokyopop's editions may be worth it? I don't really think the publisher will release AYA in deluxe format :/
BTW...
Clover is awesome. Probably the 2nd best work from CLAMP, IMO (my favorite will always be Rayearth). I don't give a shit about all those yaoi couples (Ren and Gingetsu... they're cool, though), but the history is extremely weird, drawing is top tier, and... the main chara has a transformable hand!!!!!!! And also, Suu is cute :)

And... aerh... any recommendation? I can't see which other manga from Tokyopop is worth it (I can get Kodomo no Omocha and KareKano here, I like them but I don't care if I can get them in a standard format).
BTW, they don't have Jojo, and I will only read Jojo if someone dares to publish it (yeah, I'll follow your adivse and read the so-called awesomeness :bigtran: ).

I'd recommend Initial D if their version wasn't so crappy. :'(

The Cowboy Bebop stuff was fine, albeit a little out there.I've said before here, I'm sure, but my main problems were that it was too talky and the characters became more generic. Like the classic "Fighting over the last piece of food" gag, I'm pretty sure that was in there at least once.

Bebop takes itself seriously, but to a point. Certainly Watanabe and crew put in those food gags in the show to lighten it up and to further show the human side to the characters. That translated over to the manga.
I think the author of the manga is a woman, so I suppose it was more light and fluffy than if a guy did it or something, but I didn't find myself screaming bloody murder at any point.
