Higher Voltage Character Battle: Fagmort of the Millennium |

From Sunday 10th November 2002, to Sunday 8th June 2003, Higher Voltage ran a 128-member fighting game character popularity contest in the form of a series of polls designed to eke out some idea of who the most popular fighting game character of all time was.
This was done largely as a response to the recently ended GameFAQs character battle, which although understandably focused on more mainstream characters, genres and franchises, still in our opinion critically under-represented the series and characters we all know, love and roll-cancel through on a daily basis.
By far the largest single undertaking this site or its predecessor had ever undertaken, the nonsensically-named Fagmort of the Millennium tournament was by and large a rousing success, one that saw SNK’s Terry Bogard narrowly defeat Capcom’s Chun Li to win the contest.
A huge volume of text, pages, images and message board discussion was generated during those seven months, and although obviously the fact that it’s all over and done with now robs it of a lot of it’s appeal, in our not-so-humble opinion there’s still a great deal worth reading, hence its inclusion in this archive.
