Review: Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter (alternate)

After playing X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, and its infinite wisdom(no pun intended), I kinda had a bad feeling about the VS games. Mostly, all but Zangief and Bison were button-smasher’s dreams; people who played articulately were being hammered by 5 year olds. Why? Unbalanced…..not to say Zangief was weak, but when a 5 year old is playing Cyclops and one of the Shotokns, watch out! : )
Now, comes a new version(well, not really, ALL the animation comes from other games, Marvel Super Heroes and X-Men Vs. SF), and does it have the same pitfalls as X-Men Vs. SF? A big NO.

Graphics SEEM a lot better, due to the better fonts used. The sound and background music also seemed better. This basically laid the groundwork for Marvel Vs. Capcom, one of the sweetest games on Earth(for VS fans).

Now for the characters; we have Omega Red, Dan(YES!), Sakura(YES!), Shuma-Gorath(my favorite), Ryu, Ken, Akuma(oh shit :( ), Zangief, Dhalsim(I deem worthless), Cyclops(:( ), Wolverine(:( with tears), Captain America(YES!), M.Bison, Spiderman(most improved), Hulk, Blackheart(original, I must say), and Chun-Li(sorry, no Norimaro in U.S.A. version).

I’ve only had this for a few days, it does kick some major booty(believe me, I like SF Alpha 3 better, but this holds its own).

Basically, the upgrades to this game over X-Men Vs. SF put this game in contention with the other premier games of its era(KOF 97, Virtua Fighter 3), and well worth to play as well.
