Review: X-Men vs. Street Fighter |
The game which tore up the arcades in 1996, still regarded as one of the best arcade games of all-time (forgiving the character imbalances and infinites). Does it still match up against Capcom’s newer fighters? Does it have a chance against the newer VS Games? Well, to me, it’s half and half. I like this game, but not enough as the newer games, which makes me think twice about its durability now.
I haven’t played this game in 3 months as well, so please bear with me as I try to remember what made this game great. Well, being the first of its kind, this is what propelled Capcom(along with SF Alpha 2) to have one of their best years since 1996. What does keep this game going, is the graphics. They still look a lot better compared with SNK’s best, and the music is very well done.
I’m sorry I really can’t be deep with this review, as I haven’t played this in a while, but this is a game that keeps on going. Apocalypse as the last boss, with Gambit, Juggernaut, and the rest of the X-Men crew, battle it out with Ken, Ryu, and the rest of the SF crew.
At first, it’s weird to get used to, but once you do, you’ll love the versus games(depending if you’re a button-masher, or an articulate player). Believe me, after SF Alpha 3, I like to play some of the versus titles as well.
Overall, a good buy, although Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter and Marvel VS Capcom are far ahead of this title. Play it a couple times! : )
